MISSIONS IN UGANDA

Spiritans in Uganda are working at Mulago Parish, Mulago Chaplaincy in Kampala Archdiocese, Kambuga Parish and Nyamirama Parish in Kabale Diocese and Daniel Comboni Polytechnic Naoi in Moroto Diocese. The Spiritans arrived in Uganda in 1983. Their main ministry was centered around Mulago Parish and Mulago hospital Chaplaincy in Kampala Archdiocese. The first Ugandan Spiritans belonged to the East African Province (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda). The Spiritans arrived in East Africa at Zanzibar in 1863 and then Bagamoyo on the coast of Tanzania in 1868. On October 2nd, 2008 the Uganda Foundation of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit created by the Superior General and his Council who sit in Rome-Italy. By 2015 the Foundation or Province of Uganda had 22 ordained members. This year 2016 we are expecting 3 to be ordained priests. As we are one Roman Catholic Institute of consecrated life (Religious) we have some of our ordained brothers from different countries working in Uganda as some of the Ugandan Spiritans working outside Uganda. We have 2 from Tanzania, 3 Nigerians, 1 from Ghana working in Uganda.
